Meet Amy Lawrence
Hi there and welcome! Thank you for spending your precious time here. Here is my story. It’s still being written. :-)
My photography is rooted in faith. I believe the world is filled with evidence of God's goodness, and my mission is to glorify God with my gifts, talents, and abilities. My hope is that each image would point us back to the Creator.
I took a photography elective in undergrad for an easy credit to keep my scholarship. I loved learning about composition, being in the darkroom, and generally being creative – something different for me as I worked toward pharmacy school. As a junior in high school, my singular focus was becoming a pharmacist. All my mental energy went toward STEM — there wasn't much room left for creativity. Finally, at 50 years old, I've realized I'm a creative person.
My husband (Joe) has been shooting for about 15 years. In 2022, I tagged along as his guest for a one-day workshop in Charleston — armed with nothing but my iPhone. I thought, “I can do this!” That was the day I caught the shutter bug. We came home and Joe bought me a fancy camera.
Since then, I’ve become a Fujifilm enthusiast and been on numerous workshops. Joe and I are blessed to be able to travel a great deal. I do the location scouting and we chase the light together. I have even learned to love the post-processing part of photography. I’ve learned so much from photographing at church – be it shooting in low light, changing conditions, capturing emotion, or quickly switching lenses.
I find the most joy being in nature with my camera. I genuinely believe creation is one of the clearest ways God demonstrates His love for us. I often “consider” the lilies (Luke 12:27), the birds, and the painted skies of sunset. Can you even believe that we get to behold his glory?
Psalm 19:1 says, “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.” Psalm 8:4 reminds us, “What is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?” As long as I’m able, I’ll be chasing his light through his Word and in creation. "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." Psalm 119:105
Faith and family are everything — and somewhere in between, you'll find me watching tennis, playing pickleball, or cheering on my Gators.
My Favorite Verses
